What's Meetup?

Maybe it's time for a little less face-to-screen and a little more face-to-face.

What's a Meetup Group?

Meetup Groups are today's support groups, parent playgroups, citizen groups, fitness groups, book clubs, professional groups, and other powerful local groups!

About The Atlanta Soccer Meetup Group

The Atlanta Soccer Meetup was born on April 1st 2007 when despite very short notice and a cold frosty morning, we managed to get eight players together and our first game was played. For the first few weeks we played at Westminster School but after being chased from there by security we settled on "The Lawn" at Piedmont Park as our new home. This had the bonus of being beside Park Tavern so after playing for several hours we could retreat to the bar for a few beers and get to know our fellow players better.

Our numbers grew as the summer came and went but we really took off as the summer heat faded. Since then we have grown to 160 members and we regularly get twenty players on a Sunday and about ten or so on a Saturday. As well as having great games of soccer, our group has been a great way to meet people. Many good friendships (and even a romance) have started from this group. We have a diverse group of people from all corners of America and many countries of the world. Countries represented so far include France, England, Scotland, Ireland, Belgium, Finland, Germany, China, Japan, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Nigeria, Bosnia, Mexico, Columbia, Peru, Brasil and Argentina (and I have almost certainly missed a few from there). There even a couple of people from Atlanta!

So, if you are interested in having good games and meeting good people, come check us out.
